What Types Of Soaps Do You Make?
We make 2 types of soap, both are handmade products either cold processed soaps or glycerine soaps.
COLD PROCESSED SOAPS
Our COLD PROCESSED soap is made by hand from start to finish in small batches using only the finest natural ingredients
Our Luxury Cold Process soap bars are made in the tradition way, starting off with a big jug of the finest Olive Oil or alternative vegetable oil, to which we add Palm Oil which provides a luscious lather, and coconut oil or shea butter for their moisturizing properties. We also add Vitamin E to the soaps.
A solution made from water and sodium hydroxide are added and it is this lye that turns the oils into soap and glycerine during a process called saponification. Amazing!
Most bars of soap that you buy in shops are actually not pure soap at all – they have had the glycerine extracted from them which is then sold on as a by product. These are beauty bars. All of the glycerine is left in our soaps, making them extra creamy, rich and very soft on the skin.
We make all the bars in small batches to ensure a quality product. No two will be exactly the same because they are handmade. They may differ ever so slightly from the photographs due to our mixing swirls in different directions, adding texture and color shades. Remember – you will be getting an original with every bar you purchase!
We use also use different vegetable oils for their moisturizing and nourishing properties, Olive Oil to hydrate the skin, Coconut Oil for a rich creamy lather, Essential Oils and mixed botanicals, Vitamin E to care for your skin, herbs and spices to add color and texture. Our soaps are not tested on animals and do not contain animal fats. Our soaps are suitable for vegetarians and vegans in most cases. They are free from artificial preservatives and harmful chemicals.
Our soaps are created by ourselves and are made in small batches to ensure that every care is taken to make each bar as individual as you are!
Delicious fragrances, together with lovely additions such as calendula petals, herbs, poppy seeds and powdered pumice are brought together to produce the most invigorating cleansing bars.
Our GLYCERINE SOAP bases we add Vitamin E and a little Oil of evening primrose..
These soaps are suitable for any skin type. We love getting creative with colors (usually we use a powdered mineral – cosmetic grade Mica, herbs, spices, petals etc.) We use nature and things around us for inspiration for the textures and patterns in our soaps, making them very individual.
Our soap has been certified and safety assessed by an Independent Toxicologist in accordance with EU regulations, ensuring every product is made to the highest standard and is safe to use.
Our Handmade Glycerine Soaps & Cold Processed Soaps are all assessed to EU and UK regulations.
Please note that although our Soaps are delicate enough for use on small children’s skin we suggest not using them on children under 3 years of age, And Always use with caution around children due to Food imitation, and small toys due to choking hazard.
Some of our handmade Soaps imitate edible cupcakes and cake slices & edible looking food items.
Although they look and smell good enough to eat Please do not!!
You will get a mouthful of bubbles!
Glycerine Soaps are rich in glycerin, a component of fat or oil.
These soaps are especially good and effective for sensitive and delicate skin, and for children.
Glycerine, which is a natural emollient, absorbs the moisture out of the air thereby benefiting the skin health.
It cleanses the skin without upsetting or stripping the delicate natural pH balance, which is vital for soft and healthy skin.
Soaps made from glycerine rinse cleanly and leave no soapy film behind.
With our other products again we use quality ingredients.
Glycerin Soaps – Sodium Cocoate, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Water, Sorbitol, Sodium Stearate, Myristate, Titanium Dioxide, Fragrance Or Essential Oils, Soap Color
To our glycerine soaps we add cosmetic grade glitters, fragrances/essential oils, colours, decorations like sprinkles, toys.

How Can We Care For Your Soaps?
Caring For Your soap
A very common question is “How long does handmade soap last?” A typical bar of handmade soap will have a shelf life of around a year if it is stored in a cool dry area, although the fragrance will fade over time. If you find your scent fading, sometimes it can be brought out by rubbing the bar with a cloth, exposing a new surface.
Most people want to know how long a bar of hand made soap will last once they start using it. As handmade soap retains all of the naturally occurring moisturizing glycerin (commercial soaps have this glycerin removed as a by-product). To ensure that your bar lasts as long as possible, never let it stand in water. Make certain your soap dish allows the water to drain completely away from the soap, allowing it to thoroughly dry out between uses. You may notice glycerin soaps may get moisture drops on it (glycerin dew) due to glycerin being a humectant that’s why glycerin soaps are great for the skin locking in moisture and not drying the skin out.We find that the average life-span is about 1 month. Larger households will need to replace it more frequently.
You also may notice some colors may leak out in time into the soap this is normal and does no harm to your soap or you.All our soap colors are safe we use soap colors/food grade colors.
Factors that affect life-span are usage, drainage/drying time, soap hardness and storage. With a little care, your soap will last just as long as commercially produced soaps.
Does Natural Soap Have A Shelf Life?
Unlike commercial soaps, natural soap contains no preservatives. Therefore natural soap does have a shelf life. Our soap has a shelf life of about one year. It is always best to store natural soap in a cool, dry place until you’re ready to use it.
The fact that natural soap does have a shelf life is an incentive to you to buy your soap online from a reputable source. Natural soap is expensive to stock in specialty stores and store owners are reluctant to dispose of obsolete inventory. Always smell the soap found on specialty store shelves to make sure the soap has not become rancid.
We create our soap in small batches to insure the rapid turnover of inventory. It’s a more expensive way but the best way to run a natural soap company.
Why Does Handmade Natural Soap Cost So Much?
First, the all natural ingredients used to produce SAMS SOAP KITCHEN soaps are the highest quality ingredients available. Making natural cold processed soap is extremely labor intensive which is particularly true when manufacturing soap as beautiful as ours.
Second, it depends what you’re comparing it to. Our soap is priced very competitively with other all natural soaps. Of course it’s more expensive than commercial soaps. Most commercial soaps extract many of the most useful substances in their soap while hot processing thousands of pounds of soap at the same time. Most noticeably they extract the glycerin from the soap. Glycerin is important for moisturizing your skin. The commercial soap companies are happy to sell the glycerin back to you in their lotions and creams to treat the conditions their soap causes you in the first place.
Third, put the cost of natural soap in perspective. How many baths or showers can you take using a 120 gram bar of natural soap? 30? 40? Let’s use thirty for an example. We currently charge Rs 300- 350 for glycerine soaps and from Rs 450 for a bar of cold processed natural soap. That would mean it costs you about Rs10 -15 for each shower or bath. Suppose your bath takes 15 minutes. How many things can you think of that are this pleasurable and healthy for you that you can enjoy for 15 minutes for Rs 10- 15? You can indulge yourself 15 minutes each day for a month for about the cost of a cup of Starbucks coffee that you drink in five minutes that isn’t that good for you.
Lastly, if you use our soaps you don’t need the plethora of moisturizing products most people need to replace the moisture in your skin the cheap commercial soap removes.
So is it expensive? No. And we didn’t even consider the value of the beauty and incredible fragrance this soap adds to your home 24 hours a day when your not taking a bath or a shower. Our soaps are a bargain.
Aren't The Shipping Costs High For A Bar Of Soap?
We add nothing for handling. We usually break even on the amount we charge for shipping.
We do recommend that you buy three or more bars of soap to minimize your cost for shipping.
Why Don't I Get That Squeaky Clean Feeling When I Use Natural Soap That I Get From Commercial Soap?
We couldn’t be happier that you don’t get that feeling when you use our soap! Why? Because that squeaky clean noise you get rubbing your hand over your skin means that the detergent ridden commercial soap you’ve been using has taken all of the natural moisture out of your skin. Healthy, clean skin is not naturally squeaky. So I hope you remain “squeakless”!
